Job Description: Store Lead – Trade Construction Supply (San Diego)

Location: San Diego, CA (industrial/commercial area near Pacific Beach/Clairemont area)

About the Company

We are a fast-growing specialty construction supplier providing high-quality mouldings, doors, and windows to the professional trades. We are looking for a high-energy, detail-oriented Store Lead to manage our established San Diego location (one of 5 SoCal locations). This is a ground-floor opportunity for a candidate with “pro-desk” experience looking to step into a leadership role and grow with a scaling company.

The Role

The Store Lead is an active, hands-on position for this location. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of a trade order—from generating the initial estimate and building the customer relationship to pulling the inventory and ensuring the delivery truck is loaded correctly.

Key Responsibilities

     

      • Daily Operations: Open and close the storefront and warehouse; ensure the facility is secure, clean, and organized for a professional trade experience.

      • Inventory Management: Receive inbound shipments, verify accuracy against POs, and stock shelves/racks efficiently.

      • Sales & Estimating: Process walk-in orders at the counter, answer phone inquiries, and generate accurate estimates for doors, windows, and finish trim.

      • Logistics & Fulfillment: Pull and stage orders for customer pick-up; help load delivery trucks in the morning and coordinate local San Diego delivery routes.

      • Account Management: Proactively follow up on quotes, maintain relationships with existing contractors, and identify opportunities to drive sales growth at the San Diego branch.

      • Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for intracompany requests regarding stock levels, order status, and coordination with other stores.

    Required Qualifications

       

        • Experience: 2–5 years of experience at a construction-related order desk (Lumber yard, Door/Window dealer, or Flooring wholesaler).

        • Trade Knowledge: You must be comfortable discussing “finish” materials (mouldings, casing, door handing, etc.) with seasoned carpenters and contractors.

        • Physical Ability: Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and stay active on your feet between the showroom and the warehouse.

        • Reliability: You are the key-holder. Punctuality is non-negotiable.

        • Local Savvy: Knowledge of the San Diego geography to assist in efficient delivery routing.

      Preferred Skills

         

          • Bilingual (Spanish/English): Strongly preferred to better serve our diverse customer base and warehouse team.

          • Forklift Certification: A major plus (or willingness to be certified immediately).

          • Tech Experience: Comfortable with using computers, POS systems, and professional email communication.
